after debuting their label with the return of headhunter, the trusik team returns with their second vinyl release from the ever-illusive ruffcut faculty member tremble. tremble has quietly made his presence known with reggae influenced tunes that are simultaneously roughly hewn, yet meticulous detailed in sound design. for trsk002, tremble gives us “too much terror”, which with all the daily attacks on civilians across the nations of the world, seems prescient. what starts out as sound system inspired roller slowly morphs into a technoid fusion of dread sub weight and dub techno chord flourishes. on the flipside, tremble simmers the tempo down to the 130ish range with “bwoy”. dancehall indebted sub detonations output cut vicious shapes while filtered rasta portents gradually build into a technoid climax. two killer sides for the concerning djs! for trsk002, trusik has incorporated artist ben ladieu’s immaculate pen and ink drawing into the overall aesthetic of the release. ladieu’s work is often dense, multi-layered and full of little hidden details that draw comparisons to 80’s diy punk flyers and zeke clough’s contributions to seminal dubstep label skull disco and woe to the septic heart.

avesom (name inspired by the dog of justin bennett, the sound technician that mixed the album) are creations produced during long reharsals sessions that have taken place mostly during sunsets and late nights. there torakiki inmersed themselves in a trip where the music achievable with their own finger was tested, rejecting in advance any programming. the overall sound of the album follow the path of the previous ep, halfway between the new wave and ambient. the band aims references from aphex twin, liars, jamie xx and on the other side, classical sounds from the italian song. in the album participate the voice of ilaria ippolito (# #pap ) and of gulia olivari (o.a.u.). the video of luxard was shot by giovanni aloi in a park in hong kong.

damien lynch enjoys countryside a drive in the twilight hour. this is his second offering for the esp institute. on side a, brunette opens with a straight-ahead techno thump of hi-hats and a pulsating 16th-note bassline—a subtle playing field composed solely with a rare 1970’s italian machine, the godwin drummaker 32, unearthed from the secret back room of a music shop in rural ireland where it hid among wonderful vintage russian synths and oddball electronics. this elegant track drips with warm and phasing pads, gentle staccato keys and beautifully simple arpeggios that blur every now and then—all affirming damien’s less-is-more ideology. with side b’s forced relax, damien continues to exercise his restraint, arranging his instruments in a band-like fashion, affording each player the sonic space to project their individual qualities whilst supporting an overall dialogue. there is a soft ebb and flow to every machine’s role, whether the swelling of bass or the interplay of percussive keys, but when these characters arrive in one place, the result is a tranquil euphoria. these two songs will accept you for who you truly are.

after a 10 year absence, portugals question of time records returns in 2012 with brand new vinyl and digital releases. the label was a hugely influential house and techno imprint in the mid 1990s, with everyone from sven väth to carl cox, laurent garnier, mr. c, tony humphries, and dj pippi having supported its groundbreaking releases in the early days. the labels first release of 2012 comes from qot label boss and long-serving portuguese dj hero j. daniel. the >change it< ep features four wildly different mixes of daniels new single. one of the mixes comes from the co-founder of the new qot - ambient house techno experimentalist aqob. overall the package is an entirely absorbing, intelligent and unique club ep that is impossible to categorise. it firmly sits outside the realms of todays club trends.

killer deep spaced out electro tracks!!! over 20 years ago shad t. scott and his pal seven set up isophlux records, miamis infamous first electronic imprint releasing, as they put techno, electro, funk, experimental, and anything good. now in year 2016, shad under his gosub alias releases this sunday at battle ship key titled ep for barba records, staying true to that initial principle. its far away from just being good though, its beautiful and warm electronic music at its best, oozing chill and feel good moods. original two tracks are accompanied with a remix by second time appearing on barba - jtc aka tadd mullinix who this time nicely surprised us with his ol school ny style house beauty. overall one fine classic record this, period.

curitiba-based aia records returns with it s second release. lucas and marcelo also known as doneck, started to join forces back in early-2013. musically influenced by international recognised artists such as san soda, andre&#769,,s and move d, the duo also found significance in the sounds of aia s own label heads aninha & antonela antonela giampietro. therefore, creating a mixture of three soulful, deep but endlessly sounding tracks seems very convincing and credible to the overall ethos of the imprint. with assaz the duo delivers a deep but soulful house number, whereas ocluso is deep house at it s best, with a light atmospheric vibe and the echoing vocal. last but not least, te&#770,,nue creates this feeling of weightlessness and ease with warm natural added sounds and it s groovy bassline.

mono junks dum records has been dictating trends in the world of minimalistic techno since the 1990s, and its 34th release is as special as any. this one comes from label boss kimmo rapatti aka mono junk vs mesak, who is better known as fellow finn, tatu metsätähti, aka one half of mr velcto fastener and someone who has released on dexter & steffis klakson. together the pair serve up three mixes of their jam and an additional track. title track deep in my mind is a paranoid techno cut with freaky vocal riffs repeating the title as gurgling synth lines and sleek drums rumble below. twitchy synths and high pressure perc add to the hypnotic effect, and overall its easy to see this one making for some perfectly weird dance floor moments. the mix by mono junk is completely the opposite: in his hands it is a beat-less, serene and beautifully styled electro cut that takes you deep into brain soothing space. the electro mind version is then a full on electro jam, with plenty of aqueous synths and fluid lines all squiggling along in classic detroit style. final track sysdrum is back to the raw, with angsty drum lines, crisp and slapping snares and oodles of reverb all making for a brain frying trip.

the new local happening in tulum comunite launches its very own imprint featuring a mexican unknown entity, providing two dubbed-out house workouts in addition to a remix by one of romania’s front runners, vid. through an accordion-like melody “untitled a” takes the listener to a melancholic journey into the latin bathed beatwork of the producer, while “untitled b” explores the mystical approach of the artist through gregorian chants over a techno drum base – this clearly portraying the dynamism that both the label/gathering and the producer offers its audience. vid steps up on the remix duties with a power-up version of “untitled b”, exploring and experimenting with the rhythmical narrative the original mix offers. overall, comunite’s debut pressing is clearly a demonstration of a new wave of producers and ideals coming from one of latin america’s hotbeds for art.

van bonn presents on his new ep pluto dedicated techno music with a dubby edge. every tune of the ep points and reflects a different situation of the night. the eponymous opener pluto delivers a powerful groove full of drive, massive chords and sirens to thrill the air. twisted elements spice the dubby elements that melt into a massive break. 2650 pleases with a forward driving groove and modulated chord stabs. the massive bass goes hand in hand with the overall positive vibe created by subtle shifts of the harmony to round off an evolving tune that points on the dancefloor. the two heroes brendon moeller and eric cloutier remixed van bonn s original mixes. it needs to be said that it is amazing to welcome these two artists on this ep with their fantastic reshapes. brendon moeller remixed pluto and presents a stripped down, groovy and dubby affair that fathoms the wideness and depths of the original mix. brendon moeller s remix proves again that less is sometimes more. techno dub at its best. eric cloutier s remix of 2650 rounds off the ep with a gentle and deep driving dub house vibe. it is presented in the stripped down eric cloutier sound . full of details and little changes does eric cloutier s remix tickle your eardrum that makes you long for the next neverending open air session. but don t forget to go home.

mikkel metal was the first artist on echocord, and the main reason why the label was started back then. after many many releases we are very happy and proud that he now returns with a full lenght album. more than 7 years after his last long-player album mikkel metal returns with a new album for echocord. bypassing dub-techno as the starting point, this is music clearly consistent with earlier output. we are presented with 10 tracks that all evolve with around a melancholic melodic framework. while there is clearly a nod to detroit and another to dub- techno, the overall impression is consistently and unmistakably the sound of mikkel metal. a hypnotic, very enjoyable and thorough return from the danish artist.

q3a is a new alias of route 8, a producer who has credits on labels like lobster theremin and nous as well as black venison. now the producer serves up a sumptuous four track ep, space chamber, on the delsin label and it touches on many different styles with equally great results. lost souls is first and is an expansive bit of well driven deep house with rich synths and cavernous innards that really suck you in. next up is another serenely crafted bit of atmospheric house with dusty drums and lose hits all backed with heavenly pads and retro bass. the first of the b-side tracks is a chunky acid kicker with angelic vocals drifting up top as a controlled 303 line rips up the foreground. spaced out and deep, driving yet emotive, it is a moving bit of club music before the b2 trips you out on a silvery electro tip with its icy lines and slap-funk snares. overall, this is an expansive and perfectly formed ep and comes with a sleeve by boris tellegen.

as he keeps busy on d edge s new sub label olga with a brand new artist album, boss man renato ratier also manages to serve up a hot new ep on the main label with dynamic regard stimming. the pair cook up two fine tracks that showcase both of their styles in all their glory. philosophy goes first and is a playful, loose limbed dance floor groover with parping blasts of sub bass, richly soulful pads and slow burning sense of crescendo that will really lift dancers up and carry them away. it is perfectly detailed and expertly produced to really jump out of the speakers and is sure to be a massive hit this summer in brazil and beyond. conscious then flips the script and slows to a perfectly seductive crawl. lazy drums, slow blasts of white noise and a poignant bassline all get backed by glowing pads and the overall effect is soothing, seductive and sensual. this is a fine ep from two very talented producers and cements a long standing relationship in style.

this is the first solo work by kwartz released by the warm up imprint. the young spanish talent displays all his production skills in this release that opens with the compact kick drums and arpeggiated madness of *rite*, spiced with sweeps and drones that interweave with the hypnotic arrangement. in his first rework, oscar mulero reduces the bass drum punch, twists the arpeggiated synth line with reverb and early reflections, and adds an overall guerrilla feel to the sound.

new zealand based crate digger frank booker invites good friend julien dyne to drop the second release on his new imprint down in the basement. jd picks up where the man called booker left off on vol 1 and gets straight up to speed cutting up rare boogie, disco and afro jams and employing his trademark raw cuts in an old school style, while lacing oodles of fx n stuff into the mix. the overall sound is reminiscent of the early idjut boys material, which is so close to mr booker s heart.

with his third release of the bella avgvsta series, daniel bortz shows that augsburg offers more then its famous puppet theater. the opener don’t forget your sword provides crystal clear techno, discreetly interrupted by accented fades of an exotic theme. with rolling dub sequences, decent recurring swishes and a peacefull breaks jump in the water describes the impression to dive into the humid element. lonely soldier then provides more power again. the basic theme which is dominated by a minor tone displays an inner unrest created by the unknown that is daily lurking out there for us. the beautiful deep dub-track hide from the sun finally plays with the change of shimmering heat and chilly shadow. who does not know the feeling on a hot open-air-afternoon to take an occasional time-out from the merciless burning sun. overall this is the most personal and deeply emotional release and as we think a worthy highlight and conclusion for the bella avgvsta series.

with an overall length of 140cm, the marabou is one of the largest storks. the marabou’s head and neck have only a few downy feathers. the feathers on its back, wings, and tail are dark grey with a shimmering green gloss, and its underside is a radiant white. its red and entirely unresearched throat pouch is a distinctive feature. 3tone.triangle and singer madlaina balmer fly to africa together on the marabou and caress this wonderful summer with warm synthesiser clouds, airy field recordings and pleasant, raw percussion. “marabu” will be available for purchase from the bug wan record label this september 2015, both digitally and as a 7 inch vinyl record (including a download code). the art work to accompany this journey was conceived and designed by marcel huwiler. lets dance above the clouds!

were so excited to be the guys that get to deliver you this guys debut release. luca murgia has a sound all his own he really like tom toms, he likes spacey flourishes, and overall he likes to deliver tracks with mobile electroy grooves married to the stability of house. the thing that really makes him special to us is the naturalness of feeling he achieves in his productions he has a neatness to his grooves everything lines up so the body can move freely and the dancer be in a state of flow. all four tracks on this ep have real singularity of intent in their sounds and rhythms but vary dramatically in intensity.

this album is another chapter in the ongoing there s-muchmore-to-brazil than-bossa-nova saga. it s filled with disco-eratracks produced for the brazilian domestic marketplace, some of which were hits, others which were quite obscure. what binds them all together - besides their common origins, time period and overall musical approach - is the fact that their reputation has been steadily transcending brazils borders. this has allowed these tunes to find their place on set lists, want lists and in the crates of the world s most discerning djs and tastemakers.

it is no exaggeration to say that ultrastretch has accumulated an array of outstanding releases and artists since its creation in 2011. one knows that being as renown a representative of the underground music scene as sammy dee is, he can easily sign music from any established artist he would like, the so called ‘big names’, however, when we look at the past seven releases on ultrastretch, the agenda here seems to be another. what has become an apparent and admirable feature of this label/platform and of sammy dee himself is his clear support for new music from young and yet to be discovered talents. it is on that note that ultrastretch 08 brings you romanian artist crihan. hailing from a small town close to cluj, alin crihan moved to bucharest in 2009 to be more in touch with the underground scene and music in the capital as it poses more opportunities for him to grow and develop. from dj’ing in the most various clubs in his home country, his first steps into western europe as a dj came earlier last year at no less than the legendary robert johnson club alongside petre inspirescu in frankfurt. producing under his real name for the past four years, crihan’s release for ultrastretch brings two tracks, setting the listener into two very distinctive paths. the a side, * uelden* is a dance floor oriented track. the first words to come to mind are groove and rhythm, giving the track a somewhat funky feeling overall. the elements have been crafted carefully and therefore appropriately placed just where and when you need them. by simply starting the track with a bass line and shuffling hihats he slowly develops to a journey that not onlyventures further into groove and rhythm but also in mind grabbing harmonies with deep/airy sounding pads giving it a comforting sense of beauty and obscurity. the b side is called a doua dimensiune, literally translated from romanian it means the second dimension. doing justice to the title the track does generate the feeling of being in another dimension. it is a very deep affair into mind-altering soundscapes, very atmospheric and at times dark and obscure. attention to detail is apparent judging by the overlayering of elements featured in this track. a constant rolling base formed of water tapping ambient sounds give way to harmonies made up of strings and random noises on top.

a second release of the year for the emergent common dreams label sees reedale rise producer simon keat join the fold with a pair of thoughtful, pensive deep house cuts. lead track -pressure box- is the track with a sense of unpredictable funk, giving us juicy chords, starry-eyed pads and an overall nice atmosphere with the drums moving ever forward. the b-side azikiwe fuses sporadic arpeggiations with some very thoughtful chord melodies. maybe it could be described as having a more psychedelic twist. another fine house record from the common dreams team.

nsdos is back with some new toys from outer space - on this ep we hear six figments of his twisted imagination, caught live .... on this very dense and captivating ep, kirikoo des goes back to the 90 s with some cut up electronica flair (-christine +2-, -dona j haraway-) reminiscing oval s work or some experimental shake shakir tunes. the longest tracks though feels closer to a club from the future with some eerie pads (-fa-) and liquid rhythms patterns typical of the nsdos touch we love (-yuko-). overall this ep is a much cerebral effort and yet still keeps a vibrant and gorgeous organic side to it. demanding the full attention of the listener, the reward in the end is a total bliss taking us in a deep dimension. -space is the place- as the master sun ra once said

now living in warsaw, donnell knox was well known, along with black nation s jay denham for forging a tough, distinct kalamazoo techno sound in the 90s. his label, sonic mind, put out some very coveted, underground wax that still sounds unique, extra rugged, and fresh. well d-knox is now on a bit of a comeback mission it seems, with some really inspiring new material, and “africa calling”. the first version, created to donnell’s much loved “spirit man” alias, is a soulful trek through layers of pads and emotive synth work. the simple, but uplifting, vocal snippet really gives it an organic and spiritual feel, the tempo is driving and quick, but the overall vibe is laid back and deep. remixes come from the likes of brooklyn based titonton duvante, who maximizes a synth pattern to a form a beautiful, reaching, version, while canada’a rennie foster channels his futago traxx style to present a full on tribal, drum based mix with added vocal pieces. also, detroit transplant, now living in canada as well, j garrett goes in with a very emotional, warm, string laden take. the ep is capped off with another version from donnell that could stand as it’s own track really, a totally different, but equally as strong, version featuring a driving baseline and detroit style string vamps. a really nice release, worthy of your support, from a well loved veteran of the techno underground.

the second record of athens based equivalence records comes from the labels co-owner and overall man of the hour, kreon. following in the steps of the first release, which has already been played by ricardo villalobos in fabric, 002 features two stripped down stompers, emanating analog warmth and hiss, while holding the groove and mystery throughout. groovy, low key, sub dub - perfect for those low ceiling places in the late early hours. early support by the usual suspects.

this one is really raw dirty monotonous early techno beats with some claustrophobic noises, lots of old acid sounds from old analog gear, 303s filtered by hand, headcutting hi hats and an overall dark atmosphere. flashback to the early days of mr.finger, adonis etc

the soul notes imprint has never restricted itself to just one sound. ever since it emerged in late 2011, the basque county based outfit has shown several sides of its identity and has developed into a diverse and well balanced home. one of the labels usual suspects is cologne native, adryiano. after reaping some havoc with his efforts on the snx series early last year, adryiano has been crafting his down south ep (ironically) somewhere in the north rhine-westphalian concrete jungle. the down south ep is buldging with deep sine basses, fine rhythmic synthwork and lavish but hefty beats. the title track showcases these exact things best. the essence of adryiano s latest effort is still somewhat hard to pin down. a lot of different moods are going on throughout the ep while the overall sounds maintains it s own glance. from the deep machinefunk on down south to the broken beats of feel what you do. all of these bits have a nice theme to them.

black vinyl edition ... beat a track that already is a hit? nearly impossible ? but not for noir music. they just took superfunk s lucky star and dropped it into a damn hot new edition for 2012. thanks again to solomun (diynamic, supernature) for another brilliant remix work. kolombo takes it back to the oldschool days with a deep work and a real 303 acid edit. overall a superb must-have package.

this one is a taste of things to come from the clekclekboom camp, a ready to use various cuts ep made by deejays for deejays. the label say -a solid piece of wax with different weapons including already known ccb producers and extended family. for this first volume, french fries teams up with nsdos on a hypnotic jam, bringing chicago s percussive legacy in a 90 s nyc ballroom. then we got aleqs notal going deep with a new batch of his lunar material where tripping synths meet spaced out hi-hats. on the flip jean nipon provides his drummer background to display some infectious rhythms colliding with a shuffling syncopated bass, while barbara ford takes us through a heavy mesmerizing acid jam tunnel… overall a deep and yet club-material experience representing perfectly what clekclekboom has to offer today.-
